06/11/2009 - Economy Industrial commissions new 20 ton/hour pig caster at PIZO, a joint venture of Heritage Environmental and Nucor.
Economy Industrial Corp. recently commissioned a 20 ton/hour pig iron casting machine at PIZO’s Blytheville, Ark., plant.
PIZO, a joint venture of Heritage Environmental and Nucor, will use the new machine to convert liquid iron into 10-pound iron pigs that can be used as remelt stock for electric arc furnaces.
The casting machine is equipped with Economy Industrial’s proprietary process control and water recycling system, disposing of all excess water with no runoff to drains. The machine is also outfitted with controls that help to reduce the need for operator intervention while also providing full safety interlocks to meet U.S. and international requirements.
Economy Industrial Corp. was founded in 1976 as the successor to Bollinger Corp., which had been supplying pig casting machines to the U.S. and international markets since 1914.
