According to SARRALLE, the treatment and recovery of slag is “one of the most challenging operational processes. The stainless steel slag contains chromium and iron and, consequently, an efficient recovery of these valuable components has potential environmental and economical profit.”
 
Phase 1 of the project, which comprises a crushing plant where slag is crushed and classified, was completed last year. Phase 2 will include a metal recovery plant, where metal fines will be recovered, resulting in an aggregate product.
 
The project includes the design, engineering, automatization and control, mechanical equipment, manufacturing, civil works, commissioning, and start-up of the metal recovery plant.
