Paul Wurth To Install First Stamp-Charged Coke Battery in Japan for JFE Steel
09/27/2022 - Japan’s JFE Steel Corp. has tapped Paul Wurth IHI to supply a new stamp-charged coke oven battery at its Fukuyama works, marking the first time the technology will be installed in the country.
According to the equipment supplier, JFE placed the order in June 2022 and engineering work is now underway. The 52-oven coke battery will boast an annual capacity of 682,000 tons and feature smokeless charging technology and Paul Wurth’s Single Oven Pressure Control System (SOPRECO®). The steelmaker will also receive a new stamping, charging and pushing machine and charging gas transfer car.
Paul Wurth said the new battery is expected to begin production in 2025.
