Paul Wurth Completes First of Three Hot Stove Upgrades for Russian Mill
10/28/2019 - The first phase of a stepwise technical upgrade to the hot stoves serving a blast furnace at EVRAZ’s ZSMK Works has been completed and the second phase is under way, reports the Paul Wurth Group.
In a statement, Paul Wurth said the new No. 7 hot stove on the No. 2 blast furnace was heated this spring and began supplying blast air in June. The No. 6 furnace is being replaced next, it said, and demolition has been completed. The new stove is scheduled for commissioning in July 2020.
In the final phase of the project, the No. 5 stove will be replaced in the following year.
The combined capacity of the Novokuznetsk ironmaking plant is 18,700 tons of hot metal per day.
