Pat Hassey Elected
Chairman
of Allegheny Technologies
May 7, 2004 — Allegheny Technologies Inc. announced that Pat Hassey, 58, was named Chairman following ATI's Annual Meeting of Stockholders. Mr. Hassey is also Allegheny Technologies' President and Chief Executive Officer. Bob Bozzone retired as Chairman today and remains a Director of ATI.
"Bob Bozzone has provided important leadership to ATI and valuable guidance to me," said Pat Hassey. "We all are grateful to him and pleased that he will continue to be a key contributor on ATI's Board of Directors."
In addition, H. Kent Bowen, 62, Professor of Business Administration, Harvard University, Graduate School of Business Administration, and John D. Turner, 58, retired Chairman and CEO of Copperweld Corp., were elected to the ATI Board of Directors at the Annual Meeting.
Mr. Hassey continued, "We welcome Kent Bowen and John Turner. They bring additional experience and expertise to our Board. Mr. Bowen has extensive knowledge of materials and operations and technology management. Mr. Turner has many years of senior management experience in the metals industry."
Retiring from the ATI Board were Paul Brentlinger, Partner in Morgenthaler, venture capital group, Fred Fetterolf, Retired President and Chief Operating Officer of Alcoa, Inc., and William Ouchi, Professor in Corporate Renewal, Anderson Graduate School of Management at the University of California at Los Angeles.
Mr. Hassey said, "Paul Brentlinger and Fred Fetterolf were members of the Board since Allegheny Ludlum went public in 1987 and have provided many valuable contributions to ATI. Bill Ouchi aided our strategies with important insights into global markets and economies."
Allegheny Technologies Inc. is one of the largest and most diversified specialty materials producers in the world with revenues of approximately $1.9 billion in 2003. High-value products include nickel-based and cobalt-based alloys and superalloys, titanium and titanium alloys, specialty steels, super stainless steel, exotic alloys, which include zirconium, hafnium and niobium, tungsten materials, and highly engineered strip and Precision Rolled Strip(R) products. Commodity specialty materials include stainless steel sheet and plate, silicon and tool steels, and forgings and castings.
