Pacific Steel Casting Closes Doors, Begins Liquidation
09/10/2018 - Although California-based Pacific Steel Casting announced its intent to close in October 2017, an unexpected bump in orders allowed the business to keep going for another nine months. But those orders have fallen, and the 84-year-old operation has now reached the end, reports local news website Berkeleyside.
“We are out of business,” Pacific Steel pattern maker Ron Benge told the publication. “We are just liquidating now. (We) are still filling the last orders but we are no longer building anything. We are no longer pouring the metal.”
The company’s equipment is being liquidated at an auction taking place Tuesday and Wednesday.
