Ovako Looks to Build H2 Electrolysis Plant

The effort brings together Ovako, Nel Hydrogen, Volvo, Hitachi ABB Power Grids Sweden, and H2 Green Steel, which are aiming to establish a green electrolysis plant that will supply Ovako’s Hofors facility and enable regional hydrogen infrastructure.

“It is important that we cooperate across industrial boundaries and invest in solutions that provide substantial and rapid climate benefits, said Ovako president and chief executive Marcus Hedblom.

“Since 2015, Ovako has reduced its CO2 emissions by 54%, and we will now be the first steel company to show that it is possible to eliminate CO2 for heating steel before rolling, and get even closer to climate-neutral production,” he added.
