08/13/2008 - Tata Steel contracts Outotec to supply a new iron ore pelletizing plant for its steel works in Jamshedpur.
Tata Steel has contracted Outotec for the delivery of an iron ore pelletizing plant to be built in Tata's steel works in Jamshedpur. The contract value exceeds EUR 70 million.
Outotec's scope of delivery covers basic and detail engineering, supply of critical and proprietary equipment for a plant with a 768-square-meter grate area, and technical assistance services.
Outotec's local partner in the project is Larsen & Toubro Ltd, whose scope of work covers detail engineering, local supplies, erection and commissioning along with civil and structural works.
"This contract reinforces the long-standing partnership between Tata Steel and Outotec,” said Tapani Järvinen, President and CEO of Outotec. “We have already delivered four sinter plants to Tata Steel's Jamshedpur works and the largest sinter plant of India to Tata's Kalinganagar works.”
When completed in 2011, the pelletizing plant will be the largest such plant in India and among the largest in the world.
