Outotec to Deliver Technology for Bhushan Power & Steel Plant in India
04/20/2010 - Outotec has agreed with Bhushan Power & Steel Plant Ltd. on the delivery of pelletizing technology for its steel plant expansion at Jharsuguda, located in Orissa state of India. The iron ore pelletizing plant is scheduled to be commissioned in mid 2012.
Outotec has agreed with Bhushan Power & Steel Plant Ltd. (BPSL) on the delivery of pelletizing technology for BPSL’s steel plant expansion at Jharsuguda, located in Orissa state of India. The contract price was not disclosed.
Outotec's solution covers engineering and supply of proprietary equipment for an iron ore pelletizing plant designed to produce 3.85 million tonnes of pellets per year. The plant is scheduled to be commissioned in mid 2012.
The order is included in Outotec's first quarter 2010 order intake.
"India is rapidly developing its steel industry. Outotec has provided a dozen sinter plants and several pellet plants to India in recent years,” said Pertti Korhonen, Outotec's President and CEO. “This new Jharsuguda plant will increase Outotec's installed annual pellet capacity in India to above 26 million tonnes and confirms our leadership in iron ore processing technologies in India."
