Outotec Opens Unique Dewatering Technology Center in Finland
10/25/2013 - Outotec is establishing a Dewatering Technology Center in Lappeenranta, Finland.
The center will be dedicated to developing new products and processes for solid-liquid separation and the entire life cycle of the processes including technology, equipment deliveries, commissioning and integrated modernization services and advanced control systems.
Outotec's customers throughout all industries are constantly looking for more efficient processes in mineral slurry dewatering, process water reuse and by-product handling in metals and chemical processing as well as in industrial water treatment. The Dewatering Technology Center will strengthen Outotec's comprehensive offering in dewatering through developing strong process understanding in systems integration of relevant unit operations to capture new levels of efficiency throughout the life cycle of the plant. A key feature of the center will be the ability to simulate and optimize customer processes to integrate them with an efficient and sustainable Outotec solution.
"Our new Dewatering Technology Center will support Outotec's mission 'sustainable use of Earth's natural resources'. To achieve this we continuously develop new equipment, processes and services related to for example solid-liquid separation and raw material re-use. In addition, the strong solid-liquid separation competence built around our research co-operation partner Lappeenranta University of Technology plays an important role for us in choosing the location for our global Dewatering Technology Center," stated Kalle Härkki, president, Minerals Processing business area.
Outotec's Dewatering Technology Center will be completed and activities will start in mid-2015. Outotec currently employs approximately 270 people in Lappeenranta.
