Outotec Completes Employee Cooperation Negotiations in Finland

At the beginning of the negotiations on 5 November 2014 the estimated need for reductions in Finland was approximately 100 jobs. Outotec will reduce in total 90 jobs in Finland, of which 83 jobs through redundancies. The number of redundancies was smaller than estimated because it was agreed locally with the employee representatives that the salary increases of 2015 based on collective agreements will be postponed to 2016.

Due to reduced workload and restructuring 39 jobs will be reduced in Espoo, 22 in Pori and Harjavalta, 12 in Outokumpu and 17 in Lappeenranta operations. Most of the reductions will be completed in Finland by the end of 2014 and during the first half of 2015. Outotec offers financial support for the persons made redundant as well as training programs to support re-employment and entrepreneurship.

In addition to personnel reduction, temporary lay-offs will take place in the Turula and Lappeenranta production units during 2015. Possible temporary lay-offs in other locations depend on the development of the market environment and Outotec's order intake.

The personnel reductions are part of Outotec's global profitability improvement program targeting € 45 million savings in annual operating costs (announced on 30 October 2014). At the end of October, Outotec employed 1,420 persons in Finland.
