Outokumpu’s UK Rod Mill Wins Occupational Health & Safety Award
05/23/2014 - Outokumpu’s rod mill in Sheffield, UK, has won a gold achievement award in the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2014 for the site’s occupational health and safety management systems and practices.
RoSPA undertake these awards annually and their purpose is to recognize companies for their commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill health prevention at work.

Ambitious targets spur us to improve our safety performance on a continuous basis. Outokumpu’s rod mill in Sheffield, UK, is part of the Long Products business line and employs 114 stainless steel professionals. Production of long products in Sheffield includes billet produced at the melt shop, billets are then used for wire rod manufacture in the rod mill which is then subsequently made into bar at the bar finishing facility.
