Outokumpu Lands Record Rebar Order
04/04/2018 - Outokumpu has won an order for more than 2,500 metric tons of stainless steel rebar to be used in a North Carolina bridge project, its largest U.S. order for domestically made rebar to date.
In a statement, the company said its rebar is to be used in the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s Rodanthe Bridge project. The project entails construction of a new bridge to elevate a 2.4 mile stretch of coastal highway.
Under the order from rebar fabricator Harris Rebar, Outokumpu will supply XM-28 grade rebar in No. 4 to No. 9 bar sizes.
“The order is very significant for our Richburg, S.C., unit. We are excited to have been awarded this project, and we are fully committed in working closely with Harris Rebar to ensure that we meet the quality, time and delivery requirements set by Department of Transportation in North Carolina,” said Bob Beatty, head of Outokumpu Stainless Bar.
