Outokumpu Executive to Join Outotec

Pekka Erkkilä, the Executive Vice President - General Stainless and a member of Outokumpu Group's Executive Committee, will join the Executive Committee of Outotec, a Finnish-based company that specializes in mining and metallurgical technology.
 
As the head of General Stainless, Erkkilä has been responsible for the Tornio Works and Long Products business units, as well as the R&D, energy, safety, environment, and quality functions. He also had temporary management responsibility of Tornio Works from September 15, 2009.
 
Outokumpu says that Erkkilä's succession will be dealt with “in due course.” The recruitment process for the new head of Tornio Works is currently under way. Erkkilä will start at Outotec on May 1, 2010, at the latest, helping to ensure a controlled transition of Tornio Works' management.
 
"I am sorry to see such an experienced executive as Pekka Erkkilä to leave Outokumpu. I wish him all the best in his new role at Outotec," said CEO Juha Rantanen.
