Optima Specialty Steel Appoints Industry Veteran John Goodish to Board of Directors

Optima Specialty Steel, Inc., one of North America’s leading independent manufacturers of high quality cold drawn seamless tubes and cold finished steel bars, announced that it has appointed John H. Goodish as an independent director of the company, effective 5 June 2012. Mr. Goodish brings extensive financial and managerial expertise to Optima’s board, including considerable operational experience gained through a series of important positions held during his 40-year tenure at United States Steel Corporation.

Mr. Goodish, 63, is a steel industry veteran, joining U. S. Steel in 1970. Before retiring from the company in December 2010, Mr. Goodish served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer where he was responsible for overseeing all of U.S. Steel’s operating facilities and helping the enterprise grow its operations in North America and Central Europe. While at U.S. Steel, Mr. Goodish spent 17 years advancing through positions in the audit, accounting and finance areas of the company. He then spent 23 years serving in a variety of key operations roles at facilities across the company. In 2000, Mr. Goodish relocated to Slovakia to lead U. S. Steel Kosice, the company's first Central European steelmaking operation. Upon his return to the United States in 2003, Mr. Goodish was elected Executive Vice President of International and Diversified Businesses. He assumed the position he retired with in 2005. Mr. Goodish holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Waynesburg College.
