Ontario Contributes CA$22.7M to Dofasco Hot Mill Upgrades
05/06/2018 - ArcelorMittal Dofasco is planning to spend CA$151 million on upgrades to its Ontario hot mill in an effort to further its valued-added capabilities.
"These upgrades will help the company to produce and sell higher-value products and will strengthen Dofasco's operations in Ontario and allow the company to offer higher-quality products at lower costs to the North American market," Ontario’s Ministry of Economic Development and Growth said in a statement announcing financial support to the project.
The Canadian province said it will provide CA$22.7 million in grants and loans to the project.
The Hamilton Spectator newspaper reported that the project at Canada’s largest steelmaker includes new runout tables, upgrades to the strip cooling system and installation of two new coilers, which will replace three aging units.\
