One Person Killed in Coke Plant Explosion
11/22/2017 - ArcelorMittal is investigating the cause of a coke plant explosion that killed one person and injured two others on Monday.
"ArcelorMittal is currently investigating the exact circumstances and causes of the accident and will provide more information as soon as possible," the company said in a statement. "Our deepest condolences go to the families, friends and colleagues of the victim, and our thoughts are with the injured and their families."
According to ArcelorMittal, the explosion occurred around 3:10 p.m. in the coke plant's by-products zone. The plant is part of ArcelorMittal's Gent facility in Belgium.
The company said the injured are in stable condition.
