OMK Joins Russian Steel in Non-Commercial Partnership
02/19/2014 - United Metallurgical Company (CJSC OMK, Moscow) has joined Russian Steel, an association of iron and steel producers, in a Non-Commercial Partnership.
The partnership was founded to represent common interests and to implement different joint projects between industry participants.
“As part of the implementation of its development strategy, OMK has already invested significant amounts into production facilities to manufacture steel and sheet, and is going to increase them actively in the coming future. Joining Russian Steel is a logical continuation of our development as a pipe and metallurgical company. Participation in joint activities aimed at representing the interests and solving common issues within Russian Steel is a logical demonstration of our growth,” said the chairman of the Board of Directors of OMK Anatoly Sedykh.
The Non-Commercial Partnership with Russian Steel unites the largest manufacturers of metallurgical products in Russia. OMK’s joining the Partnership increased its share in Russian production output as follows: up to 98% in pig iron production, up to 90% in sheet and steel production, and up to 60% in pipe production. The Partnership’s members also produce a significant share of raw materials for the metallurgical industry. At present, the Partnership’s members are EVRAZ, Mechel, MMK, NLMK, OEMK, Severstal, TMK, OMK, and KOKS Group.
