Olympic Steel Names General Manager and Purchasing Manager of Winder Division
10/14/2014 - Olympic Steel Inc. announced the promotion of Ty Deinema to the position of general manager — Winder Division. Also, Aaron Nichol takes on the role of purchasing manager, in addition to his duties as division sales manager at the company's Winder Division.
Mr. Deinema began his career with Olympic Steel in 2007, as an inside sales representative at the Milford, Conn., facility. He was subsequently promoted to account manager covering western New York state and most recently served as southern regional sales manager. He is now responsible for the day-to-day management of the Winder Division, while maintaining his duties as Southern regional account manager. He will continue to report to John Brieck, vice president — Southern Region.
"Over the past seven years, Ty has rapidly progressed through several positions holding increasing responsibility. He moved up from inside sales to account manager after his first year, and two years later was promoted to regional sales manager," said Raymond Walker, president and chief operating officer —Flat Rolled. "We have been onboarding new business at our Winder, Ga., facility to support our customers in the region, and we look forward to Ty's added contributions in his new role."
Mr. Deinema earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in public relations with a minor in management from Quinnipiac University. He is currently attending the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., to complete the MSCI Certificate in Strategic Metals Management.
The company also announced Aaron Nichol has assumed the role of purchasing manager in addition to his duties as divisional sales manager for the Winder Division. Mr. Nichol began his career with Olympic Steel in 2006, and prior to being promoted to divisional sales manager, held positions including inside sales representative and account representative. He is a graduate of Ohio University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration and is currently pursuing an MBA degree at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He will also report to Mr. Brieck.
