Olympic Steel Completes 7th Annual Partnership with Make-A-Wish

Olympic Steel, Inc. announced record results for its seventh annual partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation®. The company’s month-long 2010 campaign concluded with total contributions of $56,830, exceeding its previous record by more than $10,000 and granting nine wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Olympic Steel’s “Working for Wishes” campaign is the combined effort of more than 1000 employees from the company’s 15 facilities. Fundraisers—organized and supported by employees at each location with help from customers, vendors, and community partners—granted wishes through Make-A-Wish Foundation chapters in Eastern North Carolina, Michigan, Georgia and Alabama, Chicago, Connecticut, Northeast Ohio, Iowa, Minneapolis, and Greater Pennsylvania and Southern West Virginia.

“We could not be more humbled and proud of our employees who, in spite of current economic realities, understand the impact their efforts and our organization’s commitment to corporate citizenship can have on those facing difficult circumstances,” said Michael Siegal, Olympic Steel’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “Our partnership with the Make-a-Wish Foundation has helped to bring a measure of joy in our local communities.”
Olympic Steel’s “Working for Wishes” campaign began in 2004 to commemorate its 50th anniversary. The company notes that it has since raised more than $235,600 and granted 41 wishes.
