Olympic Steel Announces Senior Management Promotions

Olympic Steel, Inc. announced the promotion of John Brieck to the position of Regional Vice President for the company's newly established Southern Region and Dan Shepard to the position of General Manager for the North and South Carolina operations. Both positions took effect October 28.
 
Olympic Steel's new Southern Region will include the company’s operations in Winder, Georgia, Siler City, North Carolina and its recently announced new facility in Sumter, S.C. The Southern Region will also encompass all of Olympic’s commercial activities in the southeastern United States. In his new role, Brieck will report to David A. Wolfort, President and COO.
 
Brieck brought over twenty-three years of steel service center experience to Olympic Steel when he joined the company in October 1999, including positions as President for High Strength Steel and as President and COO for Delaware Valley Steel. With Olympic Steel, he served as General Manager of the Philadelphia Division from 1999, moving on to become General Manager of the Winder, Ga., Division in February 2002.
 
Brieck earned his B.A. in Education from Florida Bible College, Hollywood, Fla., and is currently enrolled in the MSCI Strategic Metals Management Program at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.
 
In his new position, Dan Shepard will continue to report to John Brieck, Regional Vice President, Southern Region.
 
Shepard brought over twenty years of metal fabrication experience to Olympic Steel when he joined the company in January 2007, holding positions including General Manager, Operations, Engineering and Materials Manager for companies such as Crenlo LCC, Robert Bosch Corp.. and Holset Engineering/Cummins. At Olympic Steel, he served as Director of Fabrication Services.
 
Shepard, a former USAF Officer, earned his B.A. in Political Science from The Citadel, Charleston, S.C., and his Master of Science in Operations Management from the University of Arkansas.
