Olympic Steel Announces Scholarship Recipients
06/19/2009 - Olympic Steel announces the recipients of the Sol Siegal Scholarship Program, which awards up to ten new $1500 renewable scholarships per year to children and dependents of company employees.
Olympic Steel, Inc. announced the recipients of the Sol Siegal Scholarship Program. Named for company founder Sol Siegal, Olympic Steel’s scholarship program awards up to ten new $1500 renewable scholarships per year to children and dependents of company employees.
The company awarded the following five new renewable scholarships for the 2009-2010 academic year based on academic performance, school and community involvement, leadership skills, future goals, and outside references. Candidates were reviewed and selected by the company’s outside scholarship administrator.
- Renee Garcia, daughter of Ysmael Garcia (Detroit Division)
- Midhilesh Gogineni, son of Rao Gogineni (Cleveland Division)
- Stacia Moyes, daughter of Thomas Smith (Iowa Division)
- Alaine Perconti, daughter of Alan Perconti (Cleveland Division)
- Ashley Skinner, daughter of Lisa Bradley (Southern Division)
Previous award recipients are eligible to earn a renewal award by showing evidence of continued academic excellence and submitting a one-page essay discussing their academic progress and application of Olympic Steel's 10 Core Values in their everyday lives. The following students earned a scholarship renewal for the 2009-2010 academic year:

- Megan Feil, daughter of Donna Feil (Minneapolis Coil Subsidiary)

- Zachary Hasbrouck, son of Keith Hasbrouck (Connecticut Division)
- Caroline Sable, daughter of Robert Sable (Minneapolis Coil Subsidiary)
- Michael Sagherian, son of Malcolm Sagherian (Connecticut Division)
- Timothy Shields, son of John Golly (Chicago Division)
- Jennifer Slife, daughter of Sheila Slife (Corporate Office, Cleveland)
