Olympic Steel Announces Humanitarian Award Recipients
04/14/2005 - Michael D. Siegal, Chairman and CEO of Olympic Steel, Inc. announced that Dwight Crumpton and Cindy Jones are this year's recipients of the company's Chairman's Humanitarian Award. The award recognizes employees for extraordinary contributions to the community or special initiative, resourcefulness and courage in an emergency situation on or off the job.
Michael D. Siegal, Chairman and CEO of Olympic Steel, Inc. announced that Dwight Crumpton and Cindy Jones are this year's recipients of the company's Chairman's Humanitarian Award. The award recognizes employees for extraordinary contributions to the community or special initiative, resourcefulness and courage in an emergency situation on or off the job.
Mr. Crumpton coordinated a large fund raising effort to support the family of a co-worker who suffered from esophagus cancer. The benefit, which was a great success, raised over $4,000 to support the family's fight against cancer.
Ms. Jones also coordinated a large fund raising effort to support the family of child in her community who was suffering from a rare form of brain cancer. The funds that were raised greatly helped the family with medical expenses.
"We are pleased to have two worthy recipients for 2004. Both individuals strongly represent the Core Values of Olympic Steel and are truly deserving of this award," stated Mr. Siegal.
Dwight Crumpton is a cab crane operator with over 28 years of service at the Minneapolis Plate division. Cindy Jones is an inside sales representative at the Winder, Ga., division with over 16 years of service.

Headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, the company operates 12 distribution and processing facilities and participates in two joint ventures in Michigan.
