OJSC ArcelorMittal Provides Pipe for Orjonikidze Mine Repair

At the request of the local administration, OJSC ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih has provided 700 meters of 159-mm diameter pipes for repair of the gas pipeline to the Horky village. The pipeline was destroyed after an accident that took place June 13 at the Orjonikidze mine (CeGOK, Metinvest).

Local authorities appealed to ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih with a request to help with repair of the gas pipeline after the local administration met to discuss the immediate steps following the accident, and the company provided the necessary volume of pipes to Kryvorizhgaz Ltd on the same day. ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih has now provided 700 of the 800 total meters of pipes that are needed to repair the damaged gas pipeline.

“As a socially responsible company we could not stay aside of this tragically accident and made a decision to help restoring the city infrastructure,” said Jean Jouet, CEO, ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih. “We understand that the sooner the gas and water supply will be restored to the neighborhoods affected by the accidents, the sooner the life of its residents will be back to normal.”

ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih noted that its management is committed to conducting additional inspections of its mine department regarding safety rules during the explosion works and the state of the underground mining constructions.
