Ohio Selected as Site for New Tube Mill
02/26/2020 - A Canadian steel distributor and fabricator is expanding into northwest Ohio, where it plans to build a new US$70 million tube plant.
In a statement, Nova Tube & Steel LLC said its 250,000-square-foot facility in Delta, Ohio, will house two mills that will make hollow structural sections and standard pipe.
“We are very excited to be back in the United States with a tube and pipe production facility. This strategic location in northwest Ohio will help us serve our existing customer base more effectively and allow us to grow our business geographically,” said Nova Steel chief executive Scott Jones.
The company said it chose the site for its proximity to steel coil supply – Delta is home to the expanding North Star BlueScope sheet mill – and for its transportation advantages, which include direct rail access and heavy load limits on highways between Ohio, Michigan and Canada.
Groundbreaking will take place by mid-year, and the plant is expected to be fully operational in 2021, the company said.
