October Steel Shipments Up 5.3% from September
12/21/2009 - U.S. steel mills shipped 6,097,000 net tons for the month of October 2009, a 5.3% increase over September according to the latest report from AISI.
U.S. steel mills shipped 6,097,000 net tons for the month of October 2009, according to the latest report from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
The October total represents a 5.3% increase from the 5,793,000 net tons shipped in the previous month (September 2009) and a 13.4% decrease from the 7,041,000 net tons shipped in October 2008.
A month-to-month comparison of shipments shows the following changes:
- Hot rolled sheet, + 12.5%
- Hot dipped galvanized sheet and strip, + 8.8%
- Cold rolled sheet, + 1.4%
AISI serves as the voice of the North American steel industry in the public policy arena and advances the case for steel in the marketplace as the preferred material of choice.
