Nucor Corp. has entered into a partnership with Continuing Developmental Services, Inc. (CDS) that will allow it to support 20 veterans throughout 2012 with services such as therapy and vocational training. The CDS Warrior SALUTE Program was developed to help returning service members and their families with personalized life and job transition support.
The CDS Warrior SALUTE Program provides support and resources to service members in pursuit of their personal goals as they transition to civilian life or return to military duty by offering access to therapists, vocational training, group therapy, independent living skills, physical/occupational therapy, case management, food, shelter, and transportation services. Nucor's commitment will allow the program to service an additional 20 veterans in 2012.
"The partnership with Nucor will immediately and directly help veterans get the critical services they need now," said Sankar Sewnauth, President/CEO of CDS. "We are extremely grateful for the support and generosity of Nucor to the Warrior SALUTE Program. It is with tremendous gratitude we thank them for taking the lead in responding to getting veterans the help they deserve."
"It is the men and women who don our country's uniform who deserve the honors from those whose freedom they guard," said Dan DiMicco, Nucor's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "We must always remember that the freedom we enjoy is not free. Nucor is grateful for the opportunity to be even a part of supporting our nation's sons and daughters in harm's way, and helping them transition when they return from downrange."
In 2007, Nucor was honored by the Secretary of Defense with the Employer Support Freedom Award, given to companies who represent the highest level of corporate patriotism for their exceptional support of their employees who serve the nation in the National Guard and Reserve. Nucor has also presented its Man of Steel award to the Mississippi National Guard's 155th Brigade Combat Team and the Marines of Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marines for the extraordinary commitment and sacrifice they make for our country and families.
For 34 years, CDS has been a leader in offering both quality and choice of services to people. CDS provides residential, employment, day-habilitation services, as well as case managements to 1500 people with disabilities throughout Monroe and Wayne County in Upstate New York.
