Nucor to Restart DRI Plant
01/06/2016 - U.S.-based Nucor Corp. intends to resume production at its Louisiana direct reduced iron (DRI) plant by the end of January, the company has announced.
In a statement, the company said changes in the raw materials market led to the decision to restart the plant.
Nucor announced in December that it would not immediately resume production upon completion of a scheduled maintenance outage, citing depressed pricing for alternative raw materials.
"Nucor's raw materials strategy is built on flexibility, with the company constantly evaluating the market for the lowest cost raw material inputs at the quality levels our customers need," it said.
