Nucor Ranked as America’s Largest Steelmaker

No company produces more steel in the United States than Nucor Corp., according to rankings published in the May 2008 issue of American Metal Market.
“The American Metal Market rankings highlight Nucor's commitment to the American worker and our investment in domestic production capacity,” said Daniel R. DiMicco, Nucor President and CEO.
The magazine’s rankings—their first in recent years—track which company produces the most steel on American soil. Nucor topped the list with more than 22 million tons. U.S. Steel was second with 16.8 million tons, and ArcelorMittal USA Inc. was third.
Headquartered in Charlotte, Nucor operates 53 facilities throughout the United States and one plant in Point Lisas, Trinidad. The company also has other operations through its wholly owned subsidiaries, Harris Steel and the David J. Joseph Co. (DJJ).
