Nucor Promotes Dave Sumoski To Executive Vice President
09/11/2014 - Nucor Corporation announced that Dave Sumoski, vice president and general manager of Nucor Steel Memphis Inc., will be promoted to executive vice president of engineered bar products, which includes special bar quality (SBQ) and cold finish businesses, effective 14 September 2014.
Jim Darsey, who has served as executive vice president of bar products since 2010, will continue to focus on merchant and rebar products.
Mr. Sumoski, 47, began his career with Nucor as an electrical supervisor at Nucor Steel-Berkeley in 1995 and was promoted to maintenance manager in 1999. He was promoted to general manager of Nucor Steel Marion Inc. in 2008 and to vice president in 2010. Mr. Sumoski has served as vice president and general manager of Nucor Steel Memphis since 2012.
John Ferriola, Nucor's chairman, CEO and president, commented, "Nucor has 13 bar mills and six cold finish facilities located across North America. With our recent strategic investment of approximately US$290 million to expand Nucor's SBQ and wire rod production capabilities, Nucor continues to expand our product offerings and to supply the most demanding engineered bar application markets. Dave's promotion to EVP of engineered bar products will enable our team to focus on this significant investment while continuing to provide quality service to the merchant and rebar markets. Dave is a proven Nucor leader who will be a strong addition to our executive management team."
