Nucor Progresses on West Virginia Sheet Mill
10/28/2024 - Nucor has set some of the first pieces of equipment at its new West Virginia sheet mill as it eyes a late 2026 start, reports The (Wheeling, W.Va.) Intelligencer.
According to the publication, chairman and chief executive officer Leon Topalian said the project is about a third of the way to completion.
“It’ll be 2027 as we ramp up fully and begin producing some of the most state-of-the-art products for our end-use customers, from automotive to construction, data centers, and all the industrial applications. We couldn’t be more thrilled about this plan and what it’s going to bring for the future.”
Topalian’s comments came during a tour of the construction site with U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, I-W.Va. Manchin has been an advocate of the project.
“This will be state of the art. It’ll be the cleanest steelmaking plant in the world,” said Manchin.
