Hanners currently serves as vice president and general manager of The David J. Joseph Co., Nucor’s scrap recycling business.

Hanners, who served as a major in the U.S. Army, joined Nucor in 2011 as meltshop engineer at Nucor Steel–South Carolina. He was later promoted to meltshop manager of Nucor Steel Auburn Inc., and then served as general manager of Nucor Tubular Products and general manager of Nucor Steel Kankakee Inc.

He was named a vice president in 2019.
