Nucor Expects Q4 Profits to Dip, But Sees Improvement in 2020

According to the company’s fourth-quarter earnings forecast, the lower mill prices that marked the third quarter will impact fourth-quarter results.

“During the fourth quarter, domestic scrap metal prices have risen markedly, and our sheet, plate, structural and bar mills have all implemented price increases. We believe this reflects healthy underlying demand for our steel mill products,” the company said.

“We expect that the performance of our steel mills segment will improve as we head into 2020, reflecting the impact of the price increases and normal seasonality,” it added.

Despite that, the company said it expects that its steel products segment will record its best fourth quarter ever.
