Sumoski, who serves as executive vice president of merchant and rebar products, was elected to a two-year term during the association’s January board meeting. 

“Dave Sumoski is poised to be a strong advocate for 21st century steelmakers as we navigate an increasingly complex global steel market. The EAF industry will benefit from Dave’s leadership as he represents the interests of this sector of the domestic steel industry,” said SMA president Philip K. Bell. 

Also during the meeting, Steel Dynamics Inc. chief executive Mark Millett was named first vice chairman, and Charter Manufacturing chief operating officer Robert Venable was named second vice chairman.
