Nucor EVP to Retire; Successor Named
04/16/2020 - Nucor Corp. executive vice president Ladd R. Hall will retire from the company in June, Nucor announced Thursday.
Hall, who leads Nucor’s flat-rolled operations, has spent nearly 40 years with the steelmaker, beginning in inside sales at Nucor Steel–Utah in 1981. Throughout his career he has served in managerial roles at several Nucor facilities, including stints as general manager of Vulcraft-Texas, Vulcraft-Utah, Nucor Steel–South Carolina and Nucor Steel–Berkeley.
“Ladd has been an exceptional leader over the last four decades,” said Nucor chief executive Leon Topalian. “I want to thank Ladd for his leadership and his lasting contribution to the continued success of Nucor. We wish Ladd a long and happy retirement.”
Succeeding Hall as executive vice president will be Nucor Steel–Texas general manager Allen C. Behr.
Behr joined Nucor in 1996 as a design engineer at Nucor Building Systems-Indiana and was part of the start-up team at Nucor Building Systems-Texas in 1999. From there, he took on positions of increasing responsibility and was named general manager of Vulcraft-South Carolina in 2011.
He was promoted to vice president in 2012 and became president of the Vulcraft/Verco Group in 2014. He has served as general manager of Nucor Steel-Texas since 2017.
"Al is a proven leader whose 24 years of experience with Nucor have positioned him well to take on this new responsibility," Topalian said.
Behr serves on AIST's board of directors and is a member of its executive committee.
