Nucor Chooses Kentucky as Home for New Tube Mill
03/25/2021 - Nucor Corp. will set up a planned US$164 million tube mill at its Gallatin sheet mill in Kentucky, the company announced Thursday.
"With our recent investments to expand capacity at Nucor Steel Gallatin and add a galvanizing line, our Gallatin campus is an ideal location to build our new tube mill," said Nucor president and chief executive Leon Topalian. "The new tube mill will allow us to better serve our customers in the construction, infrastructure and renewable energy markets."
Nucor revealed plans for the tube mill earlier this month, saying that the facility would be designed to produce approximately 250,000 tons of hollow structural sections, mechanical steel tubing and galvanized solar torque tube.
The mill is expected to be operational by the middle of 2023.
