Nucor Acquires Verco Manufacturing Assets

Nov. 2, 2006 — Nucor Corp. announced completion of its purchase of Verco Manufacturing Co. for a cash purchase price of approximately $180 million, subject to post-closing adjustments. The purchase was completed through Nucor’s wholly owned subsidiary, Verco Decking, Inc.

Nucor's Vulcraft Group is the largest U.S. manufacturer of steel deck. The addition of Verco’s three steel floor and roof decking facilities will push Nucor's total annual deck capacity to more than 500,000 tons.

"Verco is an excellent addition and complement to our existing Vulcraft group. We are looking forward to expanding our reach to the western U.S. deck market," said Daniel R. DiMicco, Nucor's Chairman, President and CEO.

"We are proud to have the Verco team members, who have an impressive 40-year record of success, as part of the Nucor family," stated Hamilton Lott Jr., Executive Vice President.

Verco produces steel floor and roof decking at three locations in the western United States: Phoenix, Ariz.; Fontana, Calif.; and Antioch, Calif.

Nucor and its affiliates manufacture steel products, with operating facilities in nineteen states. Products include carbon and alloy steel bars, beams, sheet and plate; steel joists and joist girders; steel deck; cold finished steel; steel fasteners; metal building systems; and light gauge steel framing. Nucor is the nation's largest recycler.
