Nucor Acquires Precision Castings Company in Mexico
12/05/2018 - Nucor Corp. is acquiring Mexican precision castings maker Corporacion POK S.A. de C.V. for an undisclosed amount, the steelmaker has said.
POK specializes in making complex castings and precision machined products from steel, bronze, iron and specialty exotic alloys. It sells into the oil and gas, mining and sugar processing industries.
The deal will enable Nucor to broaden its current product offerings and will complement its acquisition of a cold finish facility in Monterrey, Mexico, last year, Nucor said.
“This acquisition supports Nucor's strategy in Mexico, which is focused on downstream processing for high-quality, value-added applications targeting niche markets," said Nucor chairman and chief executive John Ferriola.
"Expanding our capability to produce value-added products is a key component of our strategy for long-term profitable growth."
