Northwest Pipe to Supply Pipe for CUPCA Project
09/16/2009 - Northwest Pipe will supply approximately 25,000 linear feet of 60-inch steel water pipe and fittings for the Spanish Fork Pipeline - Springville Reach project, owned by the Central Utah Water Conservancy District.
Northwest Pipe Co. has received a commitment from COP Construction, LLC, to supply pipe for the Spanish Fork Pipeline - Springville Reach project, owned by the Central Utah Water Conservancy District.
This project is part of the Central Utah Project Completion Act (CUPCA). Enacted in 1992, CUPCA removed responsibility for completing the Central Utah Project (CUP), a federal water project, from the Bureau of Reclamation and distributed responsibility for the project to the local water district -- the Utah Water Conservancy District. CUP is the largest water resource development program ever undertaken in Utah.
Water developed by the Central Utah Project will be used for municipal, industrial, irrigation, hydroelectric power, fish, wildlife, conservation and recreation. The project will improve flood control capability and assist in the water quality control.
This project is for a continuation of a pipeline from Strawberry Reservoir to the Provo Canal. Northwest Pipe will furnish approximately 25,000 linear feet of 60-inch steel water pipe and fittings under the pipe contract, which is valued at approximately $12,000,000. The company plans to manufacture the pipe at its Adelanto California facility, with delivery scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2009.
