Northwest Pipe Announces
Traffic Signpost Order

May 26, 2004 — Northwest Pipe Co. has been awarded a $5.1 million contract to supply the State of Texas with its POZ LOC Triangular Slipbase Sign Support System. The contract can extend over two years and there is an option to renew for another two-year period.

"This is a great project for our newly enlarged facility in Houston," said Brian Dunham, CEO. "We are continuing our focus on high value added projects in our Tubular Products Group, and this fits perfectly with that approach."

"This project is also indicative of the tubular products markets we are seeing," Dunham continued, noting that pricing and revenues in the Tubular Products Group are at very strong levels. "We are continuing to pass price increases on to our customers as our steel costs increase. Accordingly, our earnings are improving and we expect a strong second quarter in the Tubular Products Group."

Northwest Pipe Co. manufactures welded steel pipe in two business segments. Its Water Transmission Group is a leading supplier of large diameter, high-pressure, steel pipe products used primarily for water transmission in the United States and Canada. Its Tubular Products Group manufactures smaller diameter steel pipe for a wide range of construction, agricultural, energy, industrial and mechanical applications. The company is headquartered in Portland, Ore., and operates eleven manufacturing facilities in the United States and Mexico.
