Northwest Pipe Announces Mexican Pipe Order

Oct. 11, 2006 — Northwest Pipe Co. has been selected to furnish approximately $22 million of large-diameter pipe for the Rio Colorado project in Baja California, Mexico.
The company will supply approximately 27 miles of 54- and 60-inch diameter steel pipe to Administradora de Obras Y Concesiones, a Mexican corporation. Northwest Pipe says primary manufacture of the pipe will be at its Adelanto, Calif., plant with some components produced at the Monterrey, Mexico, facility. The pipe will be delivered during the first three quarters of 2007.
Management believes the order represents a milestone in serving the Mexican market. The company says it expects Mexico to be an important and growing market in the foreseeable future.
Northwest Pipe Co. manufactures welded steel pipe in three business segments. Its Water Transmission Group is a leading supplier of large diameter, high-pressure steel pipe products that are used primarily for water transmission in the United States and Canada. Its Tubular Products Group manufactures smaller diameter steel pipe for a wide range of construction, agricultural, energy, industrial and mechanical applications. Its Fabricated Products Group manufactures propane tanks and other fabricated products. Headquartered in Portland, Ore., the company has nine manufacturing facilities across the United States and Mexico.
