North American Service Center Shipment Growth Continued in July
08/20/2014 - The healthy growth in steel and aluminum shipments exhibited in June 2014 continued into July for both U.S. and Canadian service centers, the Metals Service Center Institute (MSCI) reported.
U.S. Service Center Activity
In July 2014, U.S. service center steel shipments increased by 6.9% from July 2013. Steel product inventories increased 11.4% from July a year earlier.
In July 2014, U.S. service center shipments of aluminum products increased by 8.6% from the same month in 2013. Inventories of aluminum products increased 6.0% from July a year ago.
Canadian Service Center Activity
Canadian service center shipments of steel products in July 2014 increased by 5.0% from July 2013. Steel product inventories increased 0.4% from July a year ago.
Canadian service center aluminum shipments in July increased 11.4% from the same month in 2013. Inventories of aluminum products increased 6.6% from July a year ago.
