NLMK’s Blast Furnace No. 4 Gets Environmental Upgrade
11/01/2021 - The Russian steelmaker announced today it is embarking on a project to overhaul the stoves on Blast Furnace No. 4 at its Lipetsk site, which will allow for a 98% reduction in emissions.
Blast Furnace No. 4 has an annual capacity of 2.1 million metric tons. The investment, NLMK said in a press release, will be in excess of RUB 6 billion.
The upgrade will be performed without stopping the furnace. The project, which spans from 2022 to 2024, will entail successively replacing three stoves and installing an improved fuel gas afterburning system.
