NLMK Restarts Second Lipetsk Blast Furnace
02/19/2009 - Novolipetsk Steel restarts its 1000-m3 Blast Furnace No. 2 at its main production site in Lipetsk.
NLMK (Novolipetsk Steel) has restarted its 1000-m3 Blast Furnace No. 2 at its main production site in Lipetsk.
The company said the blast furnace, which has an annual capacity of 700,000 tonnes, had been idled for a 100-day overhaul.
Earlier in February, NLMK re-commissioned the Lipetsk facility’s Blast Furnace No. 3, which has a total capacity of 1.3 million tonnes of pig iron per year. Now that Blast Furnace No. has also been re-launched, Lipetsk production site’s annual pig iron capacity will reach 7.9 million tonnes, and its steelmaking capacity utilization will reach 87%.
