Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) has successfully passed the second audit of its Quality Management System for compliance with the requirements of ISO/TU 16949:2002 “Quality Management Systems: special requirements for the application of ISO 9001:2002 for automotive production and relevant service parts organizations”.
ISO/TU 16949:2002, in conjunction with ISO 9001:2002, defines quality management system requirements for design, development and production of automotive related products. It can also be extended to address the installation and service of such parts.
As part of the audit, Auditors from TUV Rheinland Cert GmbH, Germany, checked NLMK’s processes and working documentation in order to confirm quality control at all production stages. Auditors assessed the technical and organizational levels of the company’s quality program as positive, and confirmed the NLMK Quality Management System’s compliance with the international requirements for automotive goods production.
NLMK originally obtained the Quality Management System Certificate of Compliance for International Standard ISO/TU 16949:2002 in 2004. The company successfully passed a re-certification audit in 2007, at which time it was granted a new certificate of compliance that was valid until 2010.
The company recently announced it had successfully passed the annual certification audit of its Environmental Management System for ISO 14001-2004.
