NLMK Quality Management System Certified to International Standards

Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) announced that its quality management system has passed an oversight audit conducted by TÜV CERT, an independent German certifying agency.

TÜV CERT experts examined NLMK’s Quality Management System as part of its audit procedure at the company’s steel production site in Lipetsk, and confirmed the quality system’s compliance with international standards ISO 9001:2000. Compliance to ISO 9001 : 2000 certifies that all NLMK’s business processes — from signing the supply contracts to product deliveries — comply with international requirements.

The audit also confirmed NLMK’s hot-rolling production quality management for compliance with European Council Directive - 97/23/EG and Technical regulations - AD 2000 W. The European Union directives system traces the quality of the goods entering the European market and their safety for customers and environment.

The experts also confirmed that NLMK’s rolled steel products as used in the construction sector comply with Directive 89/106/EEC, earning the company the right to use mark «СЄ» on steel produced for the construction industry. This mark, which certifies compliance of the product to the requirements of the directives, grants the right to be marketed on the European market.

The TÜV CERT experts checked all management system processes as well as the proper application and execution of regulatory acts, workflow procedures and operating activities in production units and technical support services. The certifying agency confirmed NLMK’s compliance with international requirements as well as its right to use mark «СЄ» on steel products for construction.
