NLMK Opens Gas Recovery Plant
07/15/2019 - NLMK Group has put a RUB4.6 billion (US$73.4 million) by-products recovery plant into service at its Lipetsk site in Russia, the steelmaker has said.
“The chemical by-products recovery complex that combines coke oven gas flows from all coke batteries is practically waste-free. It is designed using advanced technologies and ensures efficient gas purification, process safety and high environmental performance,” said Konstantin Lagutin, NLMK Group vice president for investment projects.
NLMK said the facility captures all of the offgases created during the cokemaking process and purifies it. The clean coke oven gas is then used to fuel the ovens and power plants, and the chemicals removed during the cleaning process, such as crude benzene and ammonium sulfate, are processed for use by other manufacturers.
