According to Primetals Technologies, the goals of the project were to reduce emissions at the facility to levels lower than European standards, improve the heat recovery system to provide steam to the existing network, and increase productivity.
 
Primetals Technologies replaced the primary basic oxygen furnace offgas system with a wet dedusting system. The heat recovery system was replaced by an advanced cooling stack system for steam generation. The equipment supplier also implemented completely new level 1 and 2 automation systems, including the Dynacon metallurgical model.
