NLMK Implements New Environmental Project

Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) reports that it has begun to revamp the lime rotary kiln dedusting systems in its refractory shop.

NLMK uses lime produced in its refractory shop in both steelmaking and sinter production processes. The environmental upgrade of the dedusting system will allow the company to reduce dust in gases released by process facilities by two times.

Two of NLMK’s seven lime rotary kiln electrostatic precipitators have already been revamped. Each ESP has a daily capacity of 450 tonnes.

The project is part of Phase 2 of NLMK’s Technical Upgrade Programme.  Total investments in the project will amount to over RUR660 million.
