NLMK Begins Next Stage of BOF System Upgrade
08/21/2009 - Novolipetsk Steel enters the next stage of reconstructing the gas exhaust ducts for its Basic Oxygen Furnaces.
Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) has entered the next stage of reconstructing the gas exhaust ducts of its Basic Oxygen Furnaces’ (BOFs) system, the goal of which is to enhance the reliability of the lines and reduce their environmental impact.
The company anticipates a 59% emissions reduction in the steelmaking process by implementing this project at the main Lipetsk site.
In June, NLMK upgraded the equipment of BOF-1. To upgrade the equipment of BOF-2, under existing production conditions, more than 1500 tonnes of steel structures will be assembled within 108 days; then work will begin at BOF-3.
